The Anchorage Museum of History and Art expansion is being planned! 190,000 square feet of new construction and renovation is scheduled to break ground in mid-2005, with an anticipated opening of the new facilities in 2008. The Museum's major benefactor, Elmer Rasmusson, requested that the Museum expand its mission to include Science and the Imaginarium. ArtSceneAK believes that the strong foundation of opportunities for living artists that distinguishes the present Museum can and should be improved and enlarged during the expansion. The Museum's director, Pat Wolf, has asked for input relevant to the design of the new building from the community at large.
